Nine months old! Where did my baby go?! She is changing more rapidly than ever this past month, and I have a feel this is what it’s going to be like for the next few months (or the rest of our lives)!
As you can read from the board, she has her first tooth! I think it started to break through Easter weekend, but it really came through the following weekend. It’s her bottom right tooth. No sign of others yet, but I’m sure they are on their way shortly. Luckily she hasn’t started biting yet (which is a worry for me for nursing). She’ll bite toys and her socks, etc. but not me yet! Knock on wood. She won’t let me get a picture of it though.
In the last month she has also picked up a new mode of transportation – the butt scoot. So she now army crawls and butt scoots, but mostly butt scoots. And she’s fast! For really only using one arm and one leg, she can get around, so all eyes on deck with this one!
It’s pretty adorable.
And my proudest moment? She finally said “momma”!! And Jed witnessed it, so I’m not making it up. She’s babbling more than ever and I feel like we’re having conversations, although neither one of us knows about what. She says: momma, dada, baba and nahnah. On the subject of “talking” she started doing this a couple of weeks ago.
It’s so random when she does it, but she’ll talk in this really low voice and then go up to her normal voice. I think she’s just figuring out that she can change her voice and I’m sure it feels different for her to talk like that. This may be a trait from her mommy though as I have been known to be able to talk in a very low voice (this will come in handy at Halloween sometime).
Just in the past few days she has started to pull herself up. She’s still figuring it out, but she’s pulled herself up on the dishwasher and on the coffee table! We’re truly in trouble now.
Overall, she is a happy, healthy baby. She’s been on a schedule since probably around 6 months, which is awesome. Her schedule (in a nutshell) is this:
Breastmilk – 7:00 a.m., 10 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m
Pureed or finger foods: 8:00 a.m., Noon and 6:00 p.m. with some snacks depending on if she seems hungry or not
Naps at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. (Her morning nap is usually about an hour, sometimes longer. Her afternoon nap is usually 2 hours)
Wake between 6:30 – 7:00 a.m.Bedtime at 7:30 p.m. (she’s been sleeping through the night since 6 months when we did sleep training). Every once in a while she’ll have her nights where she wakes, but we don’t feed. She’ll usually fall back asleep or sit and play in her crib until she falls back asleep. It’s really funny to wake up to her talking or singing on the monitor!
I still try to make as much of her food as I can. We just bought a food mill which should hopefully come in handy so that we can just feed her whatever we’re having for dinner (in small amounts). Some new foods we’ve tried are bell peppers, cauliflower, peaches and ground beef. She’s very dextrous and able to pick food up with the pincer grip, so we like to give her small bites of food for her to feed herself. She also prefers to drink water out of a regular glass (with Jed and I helping of course)! She always pushes her sippy cup away when we try that.
Charlotte Mae – Nine Months
Likes: Pretty much everything! Food, purses, shoes, animals (she loves “petting” the dogs), talking, her feet, banging things together, scooting, climbing, singing, bath time, going for walks, watching people, b0oks, water, Tupperware, mirrors, hugging her stuffed animals, wrestling her stuffed animals, being held upside down, different textures, knocking down blocks, standing and much, much more that I’m probably forgetting!
Dislikes: Getting her diaper changed, changing her clothes, being left alone, having her nose wiped, having lotion put on her face.
Clothes: She mostly wears 9-month clothing with a few 6-month and a few 12-month items sprinkled in.
Looking Forward: Her baptism is this coming weekend, so we’re excited about that and having family in town. This whole month is crazy as we have something every single weekend – from her baptism to graduations, wedding receptions and more! It’s going to be fun, but tiring. We’re looking forward to it and having her meet more family! But what I’m REALLY looking forward to? Having Jed home! He’s finally home from training, so we’ll get to see him in person every day.
